Area Life May 4, 2023 Local history 50 years ago: 1973 In ceremonies at DelGrosso's Restaurant in Tipton, George's TV of Altoona, owned by George Thomas and opened in 1966, was honored for being first in sales over 276 other RCA dealers in Pennsylvania. It was George's fifth straight win. 25 years ago: 1998 The Tuckahoe District of the Penn Woods Council, Boy Scouts of America, presented the Good Scout Award for Outstanding service to Med Ostrum for 60 years of Scouting service and Altoona Fire Chief Renny Santone for his leadership.
