Community Sep 15, 2023 Local history 5o years ago Merle Glass Jr., 5, lost in the woods near Martinsburg for three days, was found safe and well by a search party of about 150 volunteers led by State Police Sgt. Albert Wegemer. The Pennsylvania National Guard and Juniata College students had assisted in the search. 25 years ago Bland's Park, F.L. Smithe Machine Co., Leonard S. Fiore Inc., Improved Dwellings for Altoona and the Altoona Speedway (heritage category) were inducted into the Altoona-Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame.
